I had some spare time between classes and decided to draw Saturday’s course out on MapMyRide so I could get an idea of the terrain. You can click on “View in MapMyRide” and look at the elevation info available…
Nevermind… there IS no terrain!

It’s a little more than I had originally planned, but the goal is to do well enough to get a discretionary upgrade to cat 2 before the nearby NRC races start in May. It will most likely result in me taking a little mid-summer break in racing once I’m past the May rush. I don’t mind- the challenge makes it more fun!
I just got a used-once set of Speedplay X2 stainless pedals for $132 shipped! They normally retail for $174. Last minute bidding is where it’s at- my bid was confirmed with 12 seconds left in the auction.
70 miles today! It felt very good. Other than being really hungry and having cold toes, I felt really strong at the end of the ride (usually I’m pretty exhausted). Even though not many of my rides have been more than a couple of hours, the volume has been relatively high. Looks like the miles of gutting out the cold are paying off in the endurance department!
I had dreams last night about bike racing. Some good, some not so good, but here’s the schedule of races in the area (though I’m not going to all of them). The purple, bold ones are NRC races. The tentative plan is to start the season off in April with the Smith & Nephew Omnium, which is held in the Memphis area.
